Nursery and Primary : Sensory room
A sensory room is a special room designed to develop a person’s senses, usually through special lighting, music and objects. It can be used as therapy for children with limited communication skills, but also for children who have difficulty expressing their feelings, calming down or dealing with their fears and aggressions.
Since April 2019, we have created a sensory room in each of the nursery and primary schools, which can be described a sa great success and a significant support for our pupils.
A sensory room provides the children with different sources of stimulation through special lighting, music and a selection of touch and smell objects.
This environment promotes physical and mental relaxation.
Other benefits include increased concentration, improved hand-eye coordination and a general sense of well-being.
Sensory rooms are very important for the development of children and especially children with special needs.
